The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, together with a group of children, inspected the works that are in the final stage, to then welcome the animals. Veliaj assured that the new Zoo will be the most modern in the Balkans, after the release of the occupied spaces.
“I can not wait for the children to have here on June 1 not only an opportunity to get acquainted with the animals, not only an opportunity to spend a very good day with the family, but also an excellent opportunity to learn. It is probably the most modern Zoo in the Balkans, completely redesigned. Spaces are freed from occupation, there is more space for animals. “Those narrow cages no longer exist, so there really is a much more humane treatment than those scenes we remember from the Zoo we inherited.” he declared.
Veliaj underlined that the Tirana Zoo has become a space for all age groups, where 1200 trees have been planted. The mayor also invited those who were skeptical at first to see the transformation at the Zoo, assuring them that the same high quality work would be done for the Botanical Zoo.
