Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that the country’s forces did not have enough “serious and heavy” weapons to defeat the Russian army in the southeastern port city of Mariupol.
Zelensky showed two ways to deal with the situation in the city, the first involves serious and heavy weapons, as at the moment they have enough weapons to liberate Mariupol. The second way is diplomatic, but so far Russia has not agreed to this.
“We do not know when we can unlock Mariupol. And I say this openly, that all the boys in Mariupol want our victory, they want a free city, none of them will surrender to the enemy. “This is their inner feeling, this is what they are.” said Zelensky during talks with European Council President Charles Michel in Kiev.
He added that the fate of thousands of civilians who fled the besieged city of Mariupol through the evacuation corridors is unknown, as they have crossed into danger zones.
According to CNN, Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready for any kind of exchange of Ukrainians with Russian troops.
