Boris Johnson is not the only leader to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy today. Earlier, the president also held talks with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer.
The chancellor visited the city of Bucha, near Kiev, to take a closer look at the massacre of civilians. Ukraine says more than 300 civilians were killed by Russian forces in Bucha while Moscow denies it.
Zelensky said his country was “ready for negotiations” with Russia and “looking for every way to stop this war.”
“We are looking at preparations for important battles, some say are crucial,” he said, referring to Russia’s increased offensive in eastern Ukraine.
“We are ready to fight,” he added, adding that “we want to end this war through diplomacy.”
“To the east and south, we have seen a concentration of weapons, equipment and troops preparing to invade another part of our territory,” Zelensky said.
