Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the ruined southern city of Mykolaiv for the first time this Saturday since the Russian occupation, on a rare visit outside Kiev.
His visit comes after Russian bombing killed two people and wounded 20 others in the city, while Mykolaiv has been a permanent target of Russian bombing since the beginning of the occupation.
Standing under the rubble Zelensky accompanied by area governor Vitaliy Kim is seen observing a tall building, with a pit in the middle of it from where it looked even inside the apartments.
The president further attended a meeting with local officials, in what looked like an underground chamber, while talks according to the press office focused on repairing water supply and agriculture.
After the meeting in Mykolaiv, the president has traveled further south to the port city of Odessa. He paid a visit to the base of the National Defense Corps, where he greeted the soldiers on the front line and distributed some medals for the bravery shown during the war.
Odessa is the third most populous city of Ukraine and has one of the most important ports of the country. In front of it is Mykolaiv, as both cities are engaged in the front line of defense to prevent Russian advance in the southern part of Ukraine, despite heavy bombardment.
Zelensky has been stationed in Kiev since the invasion of Moscow, making his first trip out of the capital to the eastern city of Kharkiv in late May, as these two cities are added to his list.
