Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an offer to Russia in a speech early this morning.
He proposed the exchange of senior pro-Russian politician Viktor Medvedchuk with prisoners of war held by Moscow forces.
Zelenskyy said it was “important that the security forces and the military consider such a possibility.”
Ukraine’s secret services said earlier that they had arrested Mr Medvedchuk, who is Vladimir Putin’s closest and most influential ally in Ukraine.
The pro-Russian Ukrainian politician was photographed in handcuffs in a post shared by Zelenskyy himself.
