On the 100th anniversary of US-US relations, US Ambassador Yuri Kim shared some good news for Albanians.
The United States has extended the validity of visas, starting from April 1.
The validity for a new tourist or business visa will be extended from three to ten years. This means that if you are an Albanian citizen who obtains a tourist or business visa on April 1 or later, the visa will be valid for ten years, not just three.
Yuri Kim: As we celebrate 100 years of relationship between the United States and Albania, I have the pleasure of sharing with you some wonderful news that I believe will bring Americans and Albanians even closer together.
Every year, more and more Albanians are visiting the United States, just as more and more Americans are visiting Albania. We will now make it easier for Albanians who want to visit friends and family in America, see our countries and build business relationships.
Starting April 1, the validity for a new tourist or business visa will be extended from three to ten years. This means that if you are an Albanian citizen who obtains a tourist or business visa on April 1 or later, your visa will be valid for ten years, not just three. You will be able to travel to and from the United States under applicable laws and regulations without having to renew your visa by 2032.
The decision of the United States to extend the validity of the visa for ten years reflects the fact that Albanians are increasingly following the rules when visiting the United States. I hope we find even more ways to bring Albanians and Americans closer together. We look forward to welcoming you to the United States and look forward to another 100 years as friends. Thank you!
In December 2014, US Ambassador Alexander Arvizu, during his interview with “Top Story” announced that every Albanian citizen who would qualify for a US visa, would have it for a period of 3 years.
“To date, Albanians, who have qualified for the most popular visas, ie B1, B2, tourist visas, student visas or visas valid for one year, at the embassy we have worked with the Bureau of Consular Affairs in the Department for a while. long in order to ease the conditions of visa validity.
I am very pleased to announce that starting today, for those Albanians who qualify for these visas, their validity will now be 3 years, not 1. So, if you qualify it means that the visa will be valid for 3 years, so we will save money as people will not have to apply every year, will save time and see it as a very positive development that will facilitate legal travel to the US that we encourage. Again, people need to qualify to receive it and if a few special cases, the consular officer may still have the authority to limit the duration of the visa, but most will be 3 years old. “I really hope that one day the restrictions will be eased and the next step will be the validity of visas for 5 years and after that, maybe one day Albania will qualify for the visa-free travel program.”Arvizu told Top Story.
