For the seventh year in a row, the competition of long-term specializations in Medicine has been held. This year, 318 specialists start the process, who will be our next doctors.
Kristi Trako is specializing in the Gastro-Hepatology service at QSUT. The excellent student is also a member of the Academic Senate, representative of Medical students.
“The specialization process takes 3-4 years, depending on the respective branch. The highest number of quotas this year were in the branches where the need is greatest, such as Cardiology, Radiology, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, Resuscitation, Family Medicine. About 1 | 3 of the quotas are paid, and the rest are free quotas. The difference between them is that the quotas that are covered are paid with 80% of the basic salary of a doctor, ie about 600 thousand old lekë. While the free quotas on the contrary pay the annual school tax which is 1 million and 200 thousand old lekë per year “.
After finishing the specialization process, a new doctor forces him to stay in Albania only with a contract, which he has signed in advance, here we are talking only about the quotas covered by the state. He has to work for 3 years in a medical institution in the country, otherwise he is forced to return to the state 5 times the salary they received during the specialization, ie about 100 million old ALL.
I personally want to build my career here, but to be professionally skilled, you definitely need a subsequent training abroad. Doctors and nurses fleeing abroad are demotivated by low wages and working conditions.
For a specialist to think about building his career and future here, first of all, all specialists must be paid, and secondly, during their training they must not be observers, but must be active participants in all the work and responsibilities they have. a specialty.
