The Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, took the oath before the municipal council today, after the victory in the by-elections of March 6.
Earlier, with a decision dated March 18, the court of Durrës had confirmed the validity of its mandate.
The oath of the mayor Sako preceded the agenda of the next meeting of the Municipal Council of Durrës, a council constituted in the summer of 2019, after the local elections.
The Mayor of Durrës, Sako, after taking the oath and signing it, in her greeting speech thanked the citizens who voted for her and considered the running of the second municipality in the country, as a great privilege and responsibility and promised that she would go to in the end the commitments undertaken and that will bring about the transformation of the city.
She stressed that the priority will be the continuation of the reconstruction program, as in the last two years when she has led the municipality of Durres as appointed to this position, after the resignation of Mayor Valbona Sako who won the mandate in 2019, after three mandates of Vangjush Dako. Since 2000, the municipality of Durrës is run by the Socialists.
In recent years, Durrës has faced a series of challenges, such as environmental emergencies, the tragic earthquake of November 26, 2019 and the pandemic.
