Ukraine’s Prosecutor General has revealed the names of 10 Russian soldiers whom she accuses of being involved in human rights violations during the month-long occupation of the city of Bucha.
In a Facebook post Thursday, Venediktova identified 10 soldiers – who she said were all “involved in torturing civilians” during the brutal occupation of Bucha.
Venediktova says the soldiers are part of the 64th Brigade, a unit based in the Khabarovsk region on the Pacific coast in Russia’s far east.
In an interview with German television, she said Ukrainian investigators had identified “more than 8,000 cases” of suspected war crimes since the invasion of Russia, which included charges of killing civilians, bombing civilian infrastructure, and torturing And “sex crimes”.
Her comments came as the International Criminal Court (ICC) launched its investigation into alleged war crimes committed in Ukraine.
The withdrawal of Russian forces from Kiev in early April revealed horrific evidence of Russian atrocities, with dozens of dead civilian bodies found handcuffed in the streets or buried in mass graves.
Ukraine, along with a number of Western countries and human rights organizations, has accused Russian forces of killing civilians in Bucha.
