Many strange things have happened in Montenegro and now is the time to give an account, said the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic.
The new chief executive has hailed the police action, which handcuffed the president of the Commercial Court, Blaz Jovanic. His comments hinted that such actions would continue.
Abazovic: The best response to allegations of lack of fight against organized crime and corruption should be like the latter. Let the results speak for themselves, everything else is politics. I expect this trend to continue.
Jovanic was arrested on the orders of the new chief special prosecutor, Vladimir Novovic, on suspicion of organizing a criminal group and abuse of office.
Several other people from several Montenegrin cities were also detained during the police flash. Abazovic has made it clear that the fight against corruption and nepotism will be one of the top priorities of the executive he leads.
His minority government received the green light from the Montenegrin parliament in late April, ending the three-month technical term of Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic’s government, which was ousted in a no-confidence motion on February 4th.
