Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the unusual situation created within the Democratic Party, where recently the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha, expelled Sali Berisha and his supporters from the Democratic Party.
The Prime Minister has called the tense relationship between Basha and Berisha a special skirmish, where the two political protagonists are strongly connected to each other and if one falls, the other falls as well.
“Victories have been our characteristic. Definitely this is for crying and laughing, but I can not cry for the dramatic situation that is PD. It does not appear to me that we have built fortifications to protect ourselves from them. We are all together, not in a personal process that are the two corpses that the Democrats have taken hostage by fighting with each other. It is a special fight, one is falling and the other is, there are two halves separated in half “, said Rama.
According to him, the Democrats should get out of this situation by leaving both “corpses” and looking ahead.
“One corpse with headquarters, the other without headquarters, one locked in the blue headquarters, the other included in the black list, I wish the Democrats to get out of this by leaving these corpses and looking ahead”,said the Prime Minister.
Regarding the question whether there will be cooperation with the opposition and which side of it, Rama left the issue open, emphasizing that it is expected what the developments will be, whether the situation will calm down or not. According to him, Berisha and Basha have no legitimacy separately.
“We no longer know who is who in this story and who represents whom. The two left over from the past have no legitimacy separately. The PD deputies are legitimate because they are there with the vote of the people and as long as we will see that there is a chance for cooperation, we are there to do it. I wish it to be a process that goes towards a peaceful solution. I wish the violence we saw and the fortifications were left behind. The State Police was in its most difficult challenge of these 30 years as it never had to step into the yard of a party to separate two parties that are fighting and that could lead to bloodshed. It was not necessary to fortify the DP, the police could be called and protect the building. The situation is difficult and we will see how it will develop, I wish that the violence we saw and the fortifications that are on the same side of the medal are left behind “, he said.
Rama spoke after the meeting of the SP leadership, where it was decided that the SP congress will be held on January 29, while the statutory changes are expected to be made.
Recall that this Tuesday, Sali Berisha was permanently expelled from the Democratic Party along with his supporters.
In a marathon meeting of the presidency, which started at 19:00 on Monday and ended at 3:30 in the morning, the decision was made to expel the members of the Re-establishment Commission of the Democratic Party, such as Bujar Nishani, Flamur Noka, Albana Vokshi, Edmond Spaho, Arben Ristani, Rigels Muçollari, Klevis Balliu and Keltis Kruja.
Meanwhile, the following deputies have been suspended: Agron Shehaj, Aldo Bumçi, Belind Kelliçi, Blendi Himci, Çlirim Gjata, Edit Harxhi, Edi Paloka, Eno Bozdo, Ervin Minarolli, Gent Deromemaj, Genc Pollo, Genti Strazimiri, Rigels Mucollari, Ivi Mando , Luan Baci, Lorenc Luka, Mimoza Hajdarmataj, Oerd Bylykbashi and Tritan Shehu.
Developments within the party come three days after the protest called by Berisha.
Democrats gathered in front of the blue headquarters, in a rally that ended in physical clashes. The Democrats’ house was damaged after protesters tried to open doors and windows and free, as they say, from Basha’s clutches, the headquarters that belongs to all Democrats.
In recent months, the Democratic Party has faced an internal political battle between the leader of the Democrats Lulzim Basha and his supporters and on the other hand Sali Berisha and his supporters.
Berisha convened the party’s National Assembly on December 8, and then a referendum was held in the country, where Democrats voted to oust Basha and the DP Provisional Re-Establishment Commission was set up. All these movements of Berisha have been considered illegitimate by the official DP.
