London has many Albanians, even those who play football.
One guy who has taken his first steps there is Armando Broja, who now shines with Southampton in the Premier League. Another Albanian player is growing up in the English capital, the young Renaldo Torraj, born in 2004. The right-wing striker is part of the Tottenham academy and plays with the 18-year-old team.
This season he has scored two more goals and certainly wants to achieve even more with the Londoners, but also with Albania U19 which is part now. In the column “Albanian Talent” on fshf.org, Renaldo tells how it all started with a ball playing at home, all the way to Tottenham and the desire to follow in the footsteps of Armando Broja.
– Renaldo, how did your connection with football start for you? Who is the man who pushed you towards this sport?
– My dad loves football, so he bought me a ball when I was 3 or 4 years old. I used it around the house all day and so began my connection to football.
– What pushes you to grow even more in this profession?
-I like playing football and the idea of doing it as a job has always excited me. I want to make my parents proud and give them everything back.
– Who is the person who advises you the most about football and who is closest to you?
– My mom and dad have always helped me. They have given me advice and have always encouraged me.
– How did you feel when you first received the invitation from Albania U-17?
– I felt proud that Albania called me U17 and I can not wait to represent Albania again.
– Who is the Albanian player that motivates you the most, that you have as an example?
– Armando Broja, because he has gone through the system of age football teams in England and now plays in the Premier League and with the Albanian national team. I want to do the same.
– In England, Armando Broja stands out from the national team players. How do you feel about that and how much confidence does it give you that very soon you too can play in the Premier League?
– It is inspiring to see someone who is also from Albania standing out in the Premier League. I hope that one day I too will play in the Premier League.
– Personally, what is your biggest goal in football?
– To one day represent Albania in an international tournament, such as the World Cup.
