Two fires broke out early Monday morning in the Russian city of Bryansk, near the border with Ukraine, according to Russian media.
A fire is said to be in an oil depot, while the second location was not disclosed.
Officials said no one was injured and there are no plans to evacuate the area.
No reason was given for the fires and there was no immediate indication that they were related to the war in Ukraine, although Russia has previously accused Ukraine of an airstrike in the same region.
Residents nearby told the Russian news agency Ria that they heard two explosions. They also said they did not see helicopters flying over the city at the time.
Videos have appeared on social media which seem to show two large fires in the city.
