Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke on the show “Open” for the National Consultation, emphasizing that he does not hide from any other issue, but believes that citizens should give their opinion.
In his speech, Rama mentions the first poll he has done in political life about colors and describes it as the most extravagant poll.
Rama: I have nothing to hide and I am really confident because exactly why we have a balance different from the balance that is commented across the studio. I believe that citizens have no reason not to be interested in participating in giving their opinion, there is no perfect mechanism, in my view it is innovative to get involved in a consultation. Only one would seek votes relating to criminal penalties or the immediate termination of judges and prosecutors who have not passed vetting.
I have my opinion and public and expressed, but there are times when a noisy minority puts you in a kind of embarrassment. I did the first poll in my political life when I was just elected mayor. At that time we did not have all these media, but there were some who got on the phone in the morning or on the radio and there was a lot of noise about the colors. Up to a certain point I said that what seems right to me is creating negative atmosphere and I did the survey to listen to people and it remains the most extravagant survey. The first question was about colors and 61% said they like it. We do the mechanism of citizens’ questions.
Asked if the citizens come out against a certain issue, more specifically “Open Balkan”, Rama said that they will not give up but will give more explanations of what it is. Regarding the reports on the level of corruption in the country, Rama said that they are not interested at all and only the EU reports are important to him.
Rama: In case 90% of the citizens are against, it is up to us to give more explanations of what it is, why we do it. I have expressed my position, but in this case we will have to make more efforts. Politics was not born to be a spectacle like the Big Brother to get people locked up. For Transparency International, there is no report but an index. I do not want to enter into the discussion but if you listen to the explanations given, I do not know how they relate to corruption. I never admit that in all this radical transformation with online services, nothing has changed, one more point, as they once stood in line. What matters here is what we really do.
Albania has the lowest number of thefts in Europe and the highest consumption of fruits as Albania has the highest cash expenditures which is not good. These are Eurostat reports. I do not care at all, I see them with a lot of reserve, a perception is obtained but I do not care. I look at EU reports.
