The leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha on Saturday night published some pictures of what he left behind today’s protest called by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Through a Facebook post, Basha writes that this was an ugly show of violence, where Sali Berisha sealed his last day in politics.
“The absolute majority of Democrats abandoned him and the criminals with whom he sought to destroy the Democratic Party“, Said Basha.
He stressed that the Democrats today stood firmly and the citizen in defense of the House of Freedom, as the only hope of Albanians for change.
Hundreds of supporters of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha attacked today and severely damaged the Democratic Party headquarters.
The protest called by former Prime Minister Berisha against the chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, immediately became violent, while the police intervened to restore security.
The state police intervened to stop the violent protest, which lasted for over three hours several hundred followers of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha against the opposition Democratic Party, destroying its headquarters.
Police announced that its intervention was asked by opposition MPs, within the building, who announced that life from the shocks and ongoing attacks of protesters was endangered.
The situation at the Democratic Party headquarters calmed down after the police intervened at the request of the deputies, who were inside it, who had stated that they felt threatened by the violent attack of the supporters of the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Order forces intervened with tear gas, distributing participants, took control of the situation outside and within the Democratic Party’s headquarters, while the capital’s prosecution surrounded the area as a crime scene and is documenting acts of violence, and in the meantime the first arrests of perpetrators of violence.
After special units took control of the building, the yard and the entire surrounding area were evacuated, especially after the use of tear gas.
Today’s protest marked the culmination of a move that Berisha undertook against President Basha, after the latter’s decision to leave him out of the parliamentary group, due to the decision of the United States that declared the former Albanian Prime Minister non grata.
