WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and his fiancée Stella Moris will get married on Wednesday in London’s high-security prison, where he is being held over the extradition case.
Dressed in a white bridal gown designed by Vivienne Westwood, Morris along with her two children entered the jail to perform the ceremony.
The 50-year-old is facing efforts to remove him from Britain to face trial in the United States for leaking secret files related to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Last week, the UK High Court rejected a request to hear his appeal against the measure, bringing the long legal saga closer to completion.
Assange and Morris announced their engagement in November and were given permission to marry at Belmarsh Prison in south-east London.
“This is not a prison wedding, it is a declaration of love and endurance, despite the prison walls, despite the political persecution, and despite the arbitrary detention,” Moris wrote in The Guardian on Wednesday.
The group #Mos e Extradoni Assange said the wedding would be led by a registrar, with only four guests, two witnesses and two security guards.
