In the yard of the apartment behind my arms, the Tirana Police discovered a workshop that modified firearms, which were suspected of being brought here by people with criminal backgrounds.
In this workshop, the police found Ervis Bakalli and Dorian Kola working, who were arrested in flagrante delicto.
The workshop was built on Shaqir Shima Street in Koder Mëzez, in the apartment of 30-year-old Elvis Bakalli who lived in a 3-storey apartment with his parents.
The other detainee, 45-year-old Dorian Kalo, came from time to time when he had to work on a firearm lathe.
“During the control of the workshop premises and the environment before the siege of the apartment of the citizen Ervis Bakalli, where he was parked and the vehicle in use by this citizen, were found and seized as material evidence: 8 pistol firearms, 3 firearms automatic, 4 sounders such as pistol firearms, silencers, various parts of weapons. “– said the director of Police Lorenc Paganika.
The accessories are suspected to have been brought from abroad and after the weapons were processed they were bought by persons with a strong criminal record, members of criminal groups, in order to commit serious criminal offenses against the person.
All weapons and other seized items will be sent to the Scientific Police Institute, for further examinations, to verify whether these weapons were used in criminal events that occurred before.
45-year-old Dorian Kalos was not unknown to police. In April 2021, Enver Jamaku, a assassin turned into a collaborator of justice, mentioned Dorian Kalon as one of the people who had the basis for modifying weapons of various types, repairing and replacing parts.
Enver Jamaku was arrested after a failed attempt to execute Gjon Mena in Kamza with a car bomb, who is suspected to have been ordered by Gjergj Cukali against the amount of 30 thousand euros, accusations which Cukali has denied. Jamak’s testimony led to several handcuffs and revealed 19 weapons bases in Tirana.
The area of Kodër – Mëzez and Yzberish has been used before by criminal groups to hide firearms.
In 2018, Tirana police in this area found an arsenal of weapons suspected of belonging to Aurel Hoxhallari who was declared wanted while 4 others were arrested. A similar operation was carried out in 2020 in Yzberish.
