We are here today to present the finalization of a very important operation, which has to do with preventing the trade of firearms and the production and modification of silencers.
The Local Police Directorate of Tirana has finalized the police operation codenamed “Silent”, within which a base was discovered where silencers were produced and firearms were modified. As a result, arsenals of weapons such as pistols and Kalashnikovs, silencers, ammunition, various parts of weapons, etc. were seized.
On 15.06.2022, on the basis of police information, from the Sector against Serious Crimes against Life and Property in the Local Police Directorate of Tirana, that in an apartment on “Shaqir Shima” street, in Koder Mëzez, criminal activity was exercised for production, the sale and trade of firearms, the work was organized and the police operation codenamed “Silent” was successfully finalized, during which it was possible to catch and arrest in flagrante delicto the citizens:
- Ervis Bakalli, 30 years old, resident in Tirana, for the criminal offense “Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition”, committed in collaboration;
- Dorian Kalo, 45 years old, resident in Tirana, for the criminal offense “Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition”, committed in collaboration.
After the verifications of the police information, on 15.06.2022, the work was organized and a control was exercised in the apartment of the citizen Ervis Bakalli, in “Shaqir Shima” street, in Kodër Mëzez. In an environment inside the enclosure of this citizen’s apartment, adapted as a workshop, were found machines such as: lathes, milling machines and other working tools that were used for the production and modification of parts / mechanisms of firearms, as well as for the production of silencers. of weapons.
At the moment of the intervention by the Police services, citizens Ervis Bakalli and Dorian Kalo were found working in this environment, who were arrested in flagrante delicto.
During the control of the premises of the workshop and the environment before the siege of the apartment of the citizen Ervis Bakalli, where he was parked and the vehicle in use by this citizen, were found and seized as material evidence:
8 pistol type firearms, 3 automatic firearms, 4 pistol firearms, silencers, various weapon parts, a knife, machinery used for the production and modification of firearms parts, ammunition and items other metal used for the modification and manufacture of firearm silencers, suitcases with parts for firearms modification, a quantity of money and other illicit items.
All weapons and other seized items will be sent to the Scientific Police Institute, for further examinations, to verify whether these weapons were used in criminal events that occurred before.
We emphasize that accessories for modifying weapons and silencers come illegally, from abroad.
The investigative structures of the Serious Crimes Sector in the Local Police Directorate of Tirana, in close cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Tirana Judicial District, are continuing the work for the full disclosure of this criminal activity that seriously violates public order and safety and security of life of citizens .
Intensive work is being done, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies inside and outside the country, to uncover this criminal activity, as from the investigations so far it is suspected that these weapons were bought by persons with a strong criminal record, members of criminal groups, in order to commit of serious criminal offenses against the person.
Tirana Local Police Directorate, in close cooperation with the Criminal Police Department in the State Police, the Tirana Judicial District Prosecutor’s Office and other law enforcement agencies, is working intensively by engaging the best specialists of the Criminal Police, in order to clarify the events criminal acts that occurred before.
We guarantee the citizens that the State Police is committed and determined to fight without compromise the crime in general and the organized crime in particular and in this context requires once again the cooperation of the citizens to report to the Digital Commissariat and to 112, any case of lawlessness, in order to create a safer social environment.
