The Foreign Ministers of the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia paid an unannounced visit to Kiev to express their support for Ukraine, which has been facing the Russian occupation for five months.
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Liptavsky released a short video of his arrival in the Ukrainian capital on July 20, and said he will meet with Ukrainian leaders later in the day.
“It’s shocking to see what Russia’s brutal war of aggression has done to this beautiful country and its people. We will continue to stand with Ukraine”Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg added in a shared tweet.
According to Radio Free Europe, the Austrian television, PULS 24, reported that the Slovak Foreign Minister, Ivan Korcok, has also joined this joint visit to Kiev.
The three European ministers have not released details of the visit’s itinerary, although many diplomats and leaders from around the world have visited Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion in late February.
The visits of diplomats and leaders were intended to express support for Ukraine, but also to see first-hand the damage caused by the war.
