The Prime Minister of the country, Edi Rama, was in Lezha today where he held a conversation with the citizens there.
Reconstruction and investment are at the heart of this conversation.
Asked if there was any kind of investment imbalance between the north and the south, Rama said that the government has invested as never before for tourism in the northern areas of the country.
Rama during his speech said that investments before had no logic, emphasizing that today investments are important for tomorrow.
According to Rama, the key element related to the coastline development strategy is the Balldre-Milot and Fier axis passing through Thumana and Rrogozhina. Also, the Milot-Muriqan axis is a colossal investment that has not yet been finalized with a contract, but according to Rama, the competition for this axis will soon be opened.
Rama: It is true that we have a coastline focus and if you look at today’s mirror an important component of this focus is missing and for that there is a reason. Because if a series of investments have been made in the area of our coast it is because it has been in backwardness and secondly we have an important opportunity for economic growth in that area.
The key element related to the coastline development strategy is the Balldre-Milot and Fier axis passing through Thumana and Rrogozhina. Definitely the Milot-Muriqan axis is part of the effort we have made, it is a colossal investment, we have not finalized it yet with a contract to start the works because the open competition for the realization of this contract did not actually win because the company did not meet them points that in our opinion were non-negotiable. The competition will open very soon and that investment will be made.
The balance of investments in the function of tourism we have invested as never before in Tropioja, Puka, Malësia e Madhe, as well as in Debar where we made the Arbri road a reality that was a dream that today is being realized for decades. We have invested a lot in the area of Lezha, if we see it detached from the map of Albanian infrastructure we have invested like never before. It is true that we have a kind of outstanding debt with the whole area but a debt that we will repay.
We entered the 2013 election as the blue corridor and we laughed a lot. The blue corridor entered the EU funding program with the same term. At this point we have an outstanding debt with the whole area, but we have every reason to think that we will repay it because with the reopening of the competition we will have the right company to do the realization of this project.
In terms of the inside, very significant investments have been made. Ex. is a significant investment, 20 million euros, for drinking water. These will be the last elections where we will talk about water, because by 2022 we will have all the urban areas and the most popular ones, with drinking water 24 hours. The only area I could finish in 2023 is Tirana because the investments there are bigger.
The Shengjin-Velipoja road is also of national importance, we have completed all the procedures, the beginning of the works is a matter of a very close time because we are in the process of concluding a contract with the company. By opening this road we will have a national construction site but we will also have a new axis, a new backbone in an area that has a great potential for tourism development. We are promoting other investments for tourism in the coastal area.
