We would have even better figures if the war in Ukraine had not had an impact, because only from these countries, ie from Ukraine and Russia and Belarus, we had predicted about 200 thousand tourists, who were tourists organized by contracts and who they will not be able to come because of the fighting.
The removal of pandemic measures starting from May 1 also has an impact on the improvement of the tourism situation. PCR test is no longer required, vaccination passport is no longer required, so we believe we are returning to a normal time.
In terms of domestic tourism it is the kind of tourism mainly related to the Riviera. Hotel prices have risen sharply this year due to the global energy crisis, rising food prices, and fuel prices. There are cases that hotel prices are 50% more expensive compared to years.
This has reduced the number of vacation days. If last year you bought a hotel in Himara for 7 days, this time with the same amount of money you will stay for 4 days. We believe that there will be a significant reduction of this type of tourism, as Albanian citizens are not able to afford the increased prices and will probably look for other cheap alternatives to vacation, most likely abroad.
