A group of protesters gathered in front of the Montenegrin executive headquarters, clearly expressing their opposition to Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic’s announcement that the government will make public on Thursday the text of an agreement with the Serbian Orthodox Church.
“Our message is clear. This agreement is harmful for all the citizens of Montenegro”, human rights activist Aleksandar Sasha Zekovic told VOA.

Other demonstrators accused the government of capitulating to the Serbian Orthodox Church. They were holding banners saying: “Serbia is devouring Montenegro, it will be a continuous war”, “Treason” etc. They waved Montenegrin national flags, as well as EU and NATO flags.
Abazovic announced a few days ago that his government would sign a “key agreement” that will improve delicate relations with the Serbian Orthodox Church, while in an attempt to ease tensions, President Milo Djukanovic dismissed the possibility of an imminent deal. between her and the government in Podgorica.
