Democrat MP Tritan Shehu on Thursday demanded that the Assembly pave the way for a resolution on Russian aggression in Ukraine.
In his speech, from the rostrum of the Assembly, Shehu said that there is a silence and a fear to open these topics. He stressed that Europe and the world were shocked by what was happening in Ukraine from the Russian aggression, adding that he had asked for a resolution and also asked for a discussion in the parliamentary committees, but nothing.
Democrat MP stressed that you bring technical problems to the Assembly, but never the essence of the problems.
Shehu: I think that first to set some rules, to speak in this way and to think in this way is unimaginable and moreover when such insults come up here. I think we should establish some principles and not hinder the word of the deputies. It happens that in this parliament we do not discuss the real problems and we tried to ignore them. Even in our commissions we deal with technical elements but ignore the essential ones. Today we will approve a normal agreement, but with a technical element. Without delving deep into our problems. I am not against, I will approve but it is not just that. All debates that have sought to discuss important issues have been blocked, as they fear the debate. I did not find any consensus even from some opposition MPs.
So you want to block the broad discussion of these essential elements. Europe shook and the World shook with what is happening in Ukraine from Russian aggression. We asked for a resolution, I asked for a discussion in the committee but nothing. The majority has blocked the wide-ranging discussion, why, because it fears. This is how some colleagues of the opposition behave, why does this happen. As the situation there continues to be as acute as it has been. They block the opening of the debate in any way. One can say what role we have, I am aware of the role we have, but we are a NATO member country.
