The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja has held a press conference warning any public servant who will face the law in case he sells the public service. Asked by Top Channel journalist Anila Hoxha if the Cadastre is the focus of the anti-corruption unit, Manja said that there are other agencies as well.
Ulsi Manja: I strongly believe and hope that a new era has begun in the cooperation and interaction of law enforcement agencies in the country with the new justice bodies in Albania. Urges the prosecution to continue to increase its performance for other reports that have been submitted by the anti-corruption directorate.
No official or former official abusing state duty should feel safe or sleep soundly. I want to thank the citizens who denounce. Yesterday’s investigation and action came after the denunciation of a citizen. I also want to invite the citizens that the denunciations should not be made only because they do not solve the problem, but as soon as the officials push them to corruption or do not provide the services that belong to them.
If the citizen finishes work with the official and then complains, the minimum is an accomplice in inciting corruption. We need to eradicate this mentality of ending misery by paying subtly. We have not finished work with the Cadastre of Saranda and all Cadastre offices in Albania.
Any public servant who sells it for public service in exchange for a bribe will face the force of law. This is the unwavering will of this government to fight corruption in public and state administration. The Anti-Corruption Directorate is in the process of a super investigation with abuses in public and private property from north to south with a focus on the coast
I want to be direct in the answer, cadastre is not only the focus of the anti-corruption unit. Currently 700 cases are being handled by the anti-corruption unit and other agencies. It should be said in fact that after the intervention of the anti-corruption unit, we are talking about abuses in public and private property alienated by a former official and current official. The investigation we are focusing on is for properties on the coast from north to south, but also includes local Cadastre offices, not just the coast.
What do citizens complain about the most?
Ulsi Manja: Alienation of properties.
