Livestock feed has been costing farmers more since February. The farmer from Kolonja e Fierit, Erjon Kocci, says that the increase of expenses on the farm has put the farmers in economic difficulties.
According to him, if farmers would be supported with lek for each liter of milk, then the number of stables in the country would increase.
Erjon Koçi: “If we were to rely on a liter of milk, there would be progress in all farms in Albania. It is a big difference today, I get 10 thousand lek per cow, if it was per liter of milk they would get from 50-70 thousand lek as it varies from liters of milk. “
The farms of the countries of the region compete with the milk and meat of the living thing of our country in quantity and price. In 2021, 5 million liters of milk were imported to Albania more than a year ago. According to agricultural expert Ndoc Fasllia, Albania will import less milk from the region if the farmer will support not only lek per head, but also per liter of milk.
Ndoc Fasllia: “Certainly if there was a support for milk delivered, it would be great support for farmers, as the cost of milk production compared to countries in the region and meat as well as 30-40% higher. “This is due to the lack of subsidies.”
The subsidy of 10 thousand lekë for each head of cattle, and 1,200 lekë for small livestock, as well as the benefit of free oil only for those farmers who cultivate livestock food, according to the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Dhimo Kote, the government is applying the policies of appropriate support for the livestock sector.
Dhimo Kote: “Two years ago there was reliance on milk. From the problems that arose regarding the problem of withdrawing invoices, the delivery of invoices to the factory was created a delay and insolvency. Livestock supports per head, so it is the same, this support passes to the farmer for both head and milk. “
The farmer says that the livestock in the country of the region receives the necessary attention from the state, after in Kosovo and Northern Macedonia, the farmer supports the cultivated land, for each liter of milk and the number of heads. But Erjoni says he would be happy if the agriculture ministry would reward him for every liter of unlimited milk.
Erjon Koçi: “It would help as it is a difference of 50-60 thousand ALL, it would be an investment for the farm, it would be covering the costs of expenses that we have now with the increase of the prices of concentrate, chemical fertilizers, etc.”
In previous years, the support floor for livestock was 5 heads per cattle, but this year only those farmers who have over 10 heads of cows and over 100 heads of sheep or goats will receive money from the state.
