Since the start of the war in Ukraine, German and French authorities report that thousands of Ukrainian refugees have flocked to Germany and France.
Germany registers over 64,000 refugees from Ukraine
According to the German Interior Ministry more than 64,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Germany, more than 14,310 refugees from the previous day.
While the French Minister delegated for Citizenship Marlène Schiappa reported that almost 5,000 Ukrainians have arrived in France.
“We have close to 5,000 people from Ukraine who have arrived in France. It is an actual assessment; “Every day we have new arrivals,” she said.
Schiappa said any Ukrainian in need of housing would get it in France, but not everyone. Some of them are offered a “temporary, immediate status” with the same protection guarantees as refugee status.
Meanwhile, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees has previously said that more than two million people have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. But it is thought the figures could be higher than reported, at least as some foreign officials have suggested.
