Alexander Vucic took 10,000 vaccines against the coronavirus with him to Bosnia, where he arrived this morning.
Doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be distributed in the Federation of Bosnia, one of the two entities in the country. At the Sarajevo airport, he stated that “is happy if these vaccines will save lives in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
“We will distribute any vaccine that the citizens of Bosnia want. The issue is mutual trust. We have waited for the help of much more powerful people, but in fact we are relying on each other. We in Serbia can not be happy if people in Sarajevo, Banja Luka or Tuzla are not happy“, Said Vuçic.
Bosnia’s other entity, Republika Srpska, launched vaccination in February, also with vaccines donated by Serbia. Republika Srpska has received the Russian vaccine Sputnik V. Serbia has also donated the vaccine to Montenegro, Northern Macedonia. So far, from the Western Balkan countries, Serbia is believed to have vaccinated the largest number of citizens against the coronavirus.
Serbian authorities have provided vaccines to Russian, Chinese and Western companies, such as Moderna, Pfizer / BioNTech and AstraZeneca. Kosovo is the only country in the Western Balkans that has not yet started immunizing the population against coronavirus.
