Prime Minister Edi Rama will receive today in Tirana Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, for the next meeting of “Open Balkan”.
The last meeting of the Open Balkans initiative was held in Belgrade, where, above all, it was discussed about the facilitation of customs procedures, so that “products do not spoil by waiting for several days at the border”.
“The whole focus has been on the people, the companies, the farmers, the workers, the academics, the students who are the real beneficiaries of the Open Balkans. Products can not stay on the border for days, this increases the cost dizzyingly, while negatively affecting the products. You can not go to the border on Friday and wait until Monday to cross the milk, when it has become yogurt. Or to wait three weeks for confirmation from other countries’ agencies to receive the product. The results will be presented in Tirana, at the next meeting in December and will be benefits for the six countries of the region, not three. “From January, a relaxation starts at the border, the passage of goods will be very easy and this will affect economic growth”, said Prime Minister Rama on November 4.
Meanwhile, today, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has announced a protest in front of the Prime Minister, as according to him the arrival of the Serbian president is a threat to the interests of our country. According to him, “Open Balkans” is a Serbian-Russian project and Rama has supported Vucic in the issue of Kosovo, as “this project has one goal, the partition of Kosovo.”
Consequently, the agenda of “Open Balkan”, which will be held this Monday and Tuesday will be adjusted to avoid incidents with protesters led by Sali Berisha. Unlike previous meetings, for security reasons, the leaders of the three countries will not take a walk in the city as has happened in Belgrade, Skopje,
Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu reports that five agreements will be discussed and approved at this meeting:
1-A common and free labor market between Albania, Serbia and Northern Macedonia.
2-Establishment of a joint electronic interconnection scheme for citizens in the Western Balkans.
3-Intergovernmental agreement between Albania, Serbia and Northern Macedonia on cooperation in the field of veterinary, food safety and phytosanitary in the Western Balkans.
4-Albania-Serbia Agreement on Mutual Recognition of the Economic Security Operator (AEOS).
5-Albania-Northern Macedonia Agreement on Mutual Recognition of the Economic Security Operator (AEOS).
It is also planned to hold a Regional Forum for Agriculture and Regional Cooperation.
The conclusions of this Open Balkan meeting will be made public by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia Zoran Zaev and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic around 13:00 on Tuesday.
