Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic does not comment on the mutual recognition of Serbia and Kosovo, saying that it is the wish of the European Union, but not of Serbia.
His statement came in response to the European Parliament’s report on Serbia, which for the first time explicitly states the EU’s expectation of “mutual recognition” between Serbia and Kosovo.
“Mutual recognition is their desire, it is good that they love it, but we do not want it. And as I said – everyone has their job, they have theirs, we have ours “, said Vuçiç.
Vucic stressed that he does not dispute the importance of the document approved by the European Parliament, but expressed confidence that “the new composition of the parliament and the new government in Serbia will confirm everything he has stated today.”
The Serbian head of state also stressed that the framework of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia should focus on “normalization of relations” between the two countries, and not on recognition.
The European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday approved reports on Kosovo, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For the first time, the European Parliament openly articulated that the final agreement between Pristina and Belgrade should be “based on mutual recognition”.
