After several attempts to disperse quietly, the police interfere with a mighty hand, using chemicals and tear gas and detained several protesters, and protesters threw stones and used sticks in dealing with law enforcement.
Sporadic clashes continue in downtown Athens, where increased police forces are seen.
Among those detained is the son of the terrorist Dhimitris Kufodinas, who was taken to the Attica police directorate.
Earlier, the government refused the early release and transfer to Corridhalos of the notorious 17 November terrorist, who was convicted of 13 murders out of 23 committed by the organization between 1972-2002.
While in a poll conducted specifically for this issue, over 65% of Greeks support the government’s decision not to allow the terrorist who is on the 63rd day of the hunger strike, to be transferred to Corridhalos prison to perform part of the remainder of his sentence, which according to the laws of the country, may be completed within the next 2-3 years.
