Chilean President Gabriel Boric was stoned today by a crowd during a visit outside the capital.
The stone thrown by the crowd hit President Boric’s chief of staff in the chest, who thankfully suffered no serious injuries.
Boric, who took office in March, was in the town of La Serena, 400 kilometers north of Santiago. Before entering the county building, he approached the iron fence where he greeted the crowd.
“If anyone thinks they can scare or change the way we want to run the country, they are wrong.” Boric told a news conference after the incident.
