The Albanian Pavilion in the 59th edition of the Venice Biennale will be represented by Lumturi Blloshmi, the first woman artist to represent Albania with a personal presentation in Venice.
After the 90s she was one of the few artists of her generation who managed to reposition herself and her work within the discourse of contemporary art. This is noticed in Blloshmi nude paintings, female, taking on crystal and marble shades, it is not difficult to discern that she herself is the perfect model. The pavilion is curated by Adela Demetja.
The work of Lumturi Blloshmi also fits best with the theme of this year’s Venice Biennale of Art entitled “The Milk of Dreams”.
Cultivating and adapting an approach that goes beyond feminism, nationality and specific art styles, Blloshmi has tirelessly resisted various regimes and developments by building her work based on personal experiences.
The architecture of the exhibition will be created in collaboration with German architect Johanna Meyer-Grohbrügge.
