The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj inspected the works of the Olympic track of athletics, which will be 400 meters long and will serve athletics professionals at the national level. The mayor said the new track will be the most special in the Balkans.
“Before we went to the Olympics, we promised Luiza that we would have the track ready very soon, also as a reward for her and all the promising young Albanian athletes who work hard. No matter what their last name is, no matter where their parents work, no matter what corner of Albania they come from, they should have the chance, like any similar between them in Europe, and in the world, to move forward. “It is in the dignity of the work that we do to keep our word and the word I have given is: That together with APR we will prepare the most unique track, yes in the Balkans, yes, but also in Europe”, he affirmed.
Veliaj underlined the fact that the Municipality of Tirana has made the biggest revolution in gyms and fields.
“Every investment we have made in sports has paid off. We gave a premium for Tirana, which became a football champion. We are first in volleyball and basketball. We won the Albanian Cup in men’s basketball. Therefore, we want to continue this success story. We are the number one investors, we have made the biggest revolution in gyms and in the fields “, stressed Veliaj.
The Olympic Runway will be an added asset to the city and community. The necessary conditions and infrastructure for suitable training conditions are being created, which gives an opportunity to more Albanian athletics. The Olympic Running Track will be an area totally dedicated to athletics which will ‘blend’ with nature.
