Rob Greenfield is an ordinary American citizen who is proud to have worn garbage instead of ordinary clothes and it is all part of a plan to show how much trash we throw away without thinking each month.
The activist roams the streets of Los Angeles and surrounding cities in a specially designed suit that holds all the garbage he has produced over the past few weeks.
“For most of us, trash is out of sight, out of the mind. We throw them in the trash and they leave and we don’t think about it anymore. “So I want to create a picture that helps people really see how much waste we have.”said Greenfield.
With just a few days to complete his challenge, Greenfield keeps wearing the 28 pounds of garbage created from the drinks, food and meals he has consumed.
All of it is packaged in his clean plastic suit, with pockets specially built into his arms, legs and back.
The legs are already inflated with cans knocking and limiting his ability to walk, adding to the overall impression of a robot made from rubbish.
“Today is the 27th day, and I am carrying almost 28 kg of garbage in my body. People may understand this message, now, there are some who think I am someone who is homeless or that I may have mental health problems, but mostly in part, people have been really positive, very inspired by this action mine“, He said.
Greenfield, who prides himself on living a minimalist life with little income, without a bank account is no stranger to actions aimed at raising environmental awareness.
In 2019, he was fed for a whole year with the food he grew and reaped himself.
