The US State Department, in response to statements by Serbian Minister Aleksandar Vulin, said that “the atrocities that took place in Recak in January 1999, including the massacre of civilians, are well documented.”
“The denial of these basic facts and the glorification of war crimes bring pain to the survivors, honor the victims and keep alive the divisions that continue to hamper lasting reconciliation, peace and prosperity for the Western Balkans,” the State Department said in a statement.
Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin declared on December 10 that the Recak Massacre was a “big lie and a terrible forgery”.
