Leading European Union diplomats will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev this week, Eric Mamer, the European Commission’s chief spokesman.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell will meet with Zelensky ahead of the promising “Rise for Ukraine” event in Warsaw on Saturday, spokesman Eric Mamer said.
Last week, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola traveled to meet with Zelensky and addressed a special session of the Ukrainian parliament.
Her visit was welcomed by the Ukrainian leader, who in a speech posted on social media, called it an “important moment” for the country.
Last month, the prime ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia traveled to Kiev.
