Tirana will use a new technology for waste collection and differentiation.
Waste will no longer be disposed of in bins but in underground containers which do not create dirt around them thus avoiding bad odors.
The mayor of Tiana, Erion Veliaj was together with the Italian ambassador in Tirana, Fabrizio Bucci and praised the creation of “Eco Tirana” which deals with cleaning the city.
“The biggest success story in public management was the partnership we made with Verona. Now the Municipality of Vicenza has joined us. In the beginning there was opposition, someone wrote on portals that ‘they are taking our job’, but clearly now the work is getting better and cheaper “, said Veliaj.
Veliaj asked for cooperation from the citizens of Tirana as it is necessary and a new mentality while reminding the attacks that flooded when “Eco Tirana” was created.
Today there are people who have run this country, former president and former prime minister who say “these are mafiosi from Rome, mafiosi from Vicenza, and those from Butrint”. But how can investors come when you hear a former president and former prime minister, who today has been declared ‘non grata’, who calls anyone who spoils his interest a ‘mafia’? A normal country does not work that way. Therefore, before we clear the asphalt roads of Tirana, we must once clear the streets of our logic, to become western people; if they have something, let them go and denounce them – as if these non-women solved their problems here and now they are also dealing with the problems of Verona and Vicenza! “This madness must stop, if we want to be an open place, if we want to be a place that welcomes entrepreneurs,” he said.
Veliaj and the Italian ambassador praised the new technology as an innovation that will significantly improve waste collection. As a start, underground containers will be piloted on several city streets.
