Ukrainian military intelligence says some Russian soldiers lost their lives after eating some poisoned buns given to them by Ukrainian citizens.
Two soldiers died shortly after eating food served by Izium residents, Ukrainian intelligence said, while 28 others are in intensive care at the hospital after drinking alcohol, also poisoned given to them by civilians.
In the post, the agency said: ‘Ukrainians resist the invaders with all available means. According to the information, the locals of Izium district (Kharkiv region) welcomed the Russians of the 3rd Division with poisoned pies and buns. About 500 other soldiers of the 3rd Division are in hospitals due to severe alcohol poisoning. ”
The Izium region, which is expected to have more fighting in the coming weeks, is a city of strategic importance to Russia as it would allow its troops to use it as a base for sustained attacks in the Donbas.
The poisoning comes after mass graves of the bodies of slain civilians were discovered on the outskirts of Kiev.
