Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia could take the Ukrainian capital only if it “leveled the city.”
At a news conference in Kiev, he told reporters he was open to talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, discussing the possibility of negotiations to be held in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
According to The Guardian, Zelenskiy’s reaction came after an unidentified Ukrainian government official said the Israeli prime minister had asked Zelenskiy to accept an offer made by Putin to end the war.
On the other hand, a senior Israeli officer described him as “fake.”
“At no point did Prime Minister Bennett advise President Zelenskiy to get an agreement from Putin – because no such agreement was offered to Israel so that we could do so. “Bennett has never told Zelenskiy how to act, nor does he have any intentions,” he added.
He also urged the West to engage more in negotiations with Russia and Ukraine, as he says it has not been sufficiently involved so far.
