Ukraine’s parliament said Thursday that 32 journalists had been killed during the Russian-led invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24.
The figure comes just days after French journalist Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff was killed in Ukraine after being hit by shells while covering an evacuation operation.
The 32-year-old journalist, who worked for the 24-hour news channel BFMTV, was on his way to Lysychansk near the eastern city of Severodonetsk in Luhansk when the attack took place.
The media said he was covering the humanitarian operation in an armored vehicle and was the victim of shells.
This week, Russian forces continued their offensive along the eastern wing of the country and advanced slowly toward the center of Severodonetsk.
189 miles south of the Russian border, the ruined city is one of the last areas in the eastern Luhansk region still under Ukrainian control.
