A joint coordination center for Ukrainian wheat exports under the UN-brokered deal will be opened at a ceremony in Istanbul on Wednesday, Turkey’s Defense Ministry said.
Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the United Nations signed the agreement last week to resume Ukraine’s wheat exports, which had stalled after Russia’s invasion launched on February 24, according to Sky News.
All parties will appoint representatives to the KPK to monitor the implementation of the plan.
The agreement raised hopes that the international food crisis exacerbated by the Russian occupation could be eased.
Russia has since provided guarantees on global wheat stocks after it launched missile attacks on Ukraine’s key port city of Odesa, sparking fears that the supply chain could be thrown into chaos.
