He said that since the beginning of the occupation, most of Volnovakha’s population has fled and its infrastructure has been destroyed, which means the city no longer exists.
“In general, Volnovakha, as it is back, no longer exists,” he told Ukrainian television channel Direct.
The governor added that fighting continues to prevent a Russian siege of strategically important territory.
Volnovakha has been under a heavy barrage of shelling, rockets and airstrikes, destroying almost every building in the city.
