A doctor in Ukraine got access to post on the social network with 71.6 million followers of footballer David Beckham to show the consequences of the war on pregnant women and children.
Beckham gave the doctor the right to post, in order for followers to look at the plight of women, who live every day in fear of Russian bombing.
Iryna, a pediatric anesthesiologist and maternity director in Kharkiv, posted an exciting account of her daily life in Ukraine’s second largest city.
The videos show him doing laps in a dimly lit underground basement, where young mothers hugging their babies in makeshift hospital beds lining the walls of the cramped space.
“On the first day of the war, all pregnant women and mothers were evacuated to the basement. “We had to learn how to work with bombings and threats,” she wrote alongside the videos.
“Unfortunately, we can not take babies in intensive care to the basement because they rely on rescue equipment,” she added.
The doctor said she has worked 24/7 since the start of the Russian occupation in February. In another video, she introduced viewers to Yana and her young son, Mykhailo, who was born with difficulty breathing on the second day of the war.
