The European Commission intends to give its opinion on Ukraine’s EU membership in June, President Ursula von der Leyen said on Monday.
In a Twitter post, she said Ukraine’s “European path” had been discussed.
“I can not wait to get the answers to the EU membership questionnaire“, She added.
In her Twitter post, Von der Leyen used a photo of herself talking to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a G7 summit on Sunday.
Also Sunday, German Parliament Speaker Baerbel Bas met Zelenskyn in Kiev.
Ukraine’s bid for EU membership was one of the topics discussed.
Regarding this request, Ms. Bas told the German newspaper Rheinische Post that “the Bundestag will speed up all necessary procedures.”
