Albania, as a member of the UN Security Council, has condemned the Russian attack on Ukraine since the first days of the occupation.
Albania’s Ambassador to the UN, Ferit Hoxha, has echoed in the international media with his speeches before the Security Council, where he raised his voice against Russian aggression.
The Russian ambassador silently listened to Hoxha’s accusations and request to investigate Russia for war crimes against civilians in Ukraine.
But Ferit Hoxha, in an interview with journalist Sokol Balla says that Albania must present its clear position, as the war in Ukraine affects our region.
“We have never seen it as a confrontation with Russia, with the Russian delegation or with Russian colleagues. We have seen it primary to maintain clear attitudes, as we have stated, that we will bring a credible voice, with clear positions. If we were not clear, moreover on an issue that is of our continent, which directly affects the entire European security architecture, which affects not only international law, which has violated the United Nations Charter , which has violated every letter of what we and other states are interested in. It is then and the dimension of the impact that this event has in our region. We have been absolutely in our right and in our obligation to be clear, to be resounding about something we believe“, Says Hoxha.
Next month, Albania will take over the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council, for the first time in history.
