Ukraine expects to harvest at least 50 million tons of grain in 2022, down from 85 million a year before the war with Russia.
The Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has stated that the figure is optimistic, as experts expected less wheat this year since the Russian bombings have destroyed the country.
“Taking into account all the circumstances and difficulties of the planting campaign and wartime logistics, we expect the harvest to be higher than the average for the last five years. At least 50 tons of grain, maybe more. It depends on the corn harvest, the results of which we will see in October,” said Vysotsky.
“We have domestic consumption of less than 20 million tons, which means that at least 30 million tons of the harvest will have to be exported,” he said.
