The governor of the Mykolaiv region in Ukraine, Vitaliy Kim, has promised to distribute $100 to anyone who helps identify people collaborating with Russia.
Kim has offered compensation in exchange for information for “people who tell the invaders where Ukrainian troops are positioned,” or who help them establish coordinates for potential targets.
“After a careful verification and confirmation of the information, you will benefit from 100 dollars”, he said through a statement published on his Telegram account.
Kim also mentioned plans to “close down” the Mykolaiv region for several days in order to neutralize “traitors and collaborators of Russia.”
“We are considering isolation measures. We have a large database. We will close the city for a few days,” said Kim.
The announcement comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky fired officials in charge of intelligence and prosecution, accusing them of insufficient efforts to combat Moscow’s spies and collaborators.
Zelensky has said that there are more than 650 cases of the involvement of officials suspected of treason, or of providing assistance to Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
He calls the war a “special military operation” to demilitarize Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.
