Eamonn Brennan, director general of Eurocontrol, the European aviation safety agency, said in a Twitter post that Albania during 2021 was affected by only -8% of flight cancellations due to the pandemic.
Brennan accompanies this post with the annual report of Eurocntrol which shows that our country in 2021, compared to 2019 had only 2000 flight cancellations.
Albania compared to Ireland or England had a much smaller damage in the aviation industry.
Eurocontrol’s annual report ranks first with 1.3 million flights canceled in the UK followed by Germany with 1 million. As a result of the pandemic, airlines in Europe during 2021 recorded a loss of 18.5 billion euros.
Eurocontrol predicts that during 2022 a recovery of up to 90% is expected compared to the time before the pandemic started.
