Two minors lost their lives last night in a car accident that occurred in Shkozet, Durrës, on the axis that connects the Dajlan Bridge with Nis Tulla, in front of the Court of Appeals.
The juveniles together with an adult were near the urban waste containers, when a vehicle moving fast on the road hit them from behind and as it turned out the driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old young man from Durrës was able to dehur.
Here is a cousin of one of the victims, Daniel.
“Our uncle’s son informed us that he is boy very bad and is in the hospital. It was about 12.30pm, after midnight. We went there to the hospital and then we came here, but what to see ?!
He dug for scrap metal, cans. He has been to work, he has returned home. “It was washed and it came out again.” said the cousin.
The moped was driven by Sokoli, the father of one of the victims Franc who died shortly after the strong collision. Shortly afterwards, Danjeli, an 8th grade student at one of Shkozet’s schools and their neighbor, died at the hospital. Franci, who died before he was 16, had just returned from Italy and wanted to help his father collect scrap metal. Danjeli, after school, also worked on the streets to provide for the family. Friends and relatives have gathered near his house waiting for the body, while family members find it difficult to talk about the serious event. The ground floor and poor house of Daniel and Franc a little further are evidence of the reality of the children of the Roma community who in most cases provide a living by looking through the trash.
“I had a friend for 5 years. Very good friend to me. They had run home at 10.00 and have come out again to collect cans.
I am very sorry for his mother who is suffering so much. For his family that they are in bad shape. They do not have many opportunities “, said his friend.
Dori, his cousin tells that he also collects cans on the street every day and has left school. All his family members work on the streets. Only sister and younger brother stay home waiting for food. Uncertainty while working on the road is great.
“I was 8 years old when I worked for plastics and I was on the beach where I worked. I crashed as I was crossing the road. We go to work and the car comes out. It is very difficult. I hit 3 times “, said the boy.
“Two people left today.”
Despite the risk juveniles and adults working on the streets show that this is the only way to secure income and avoid involvement in criminal acts.
“It’s difficult, but we’re working to make it worse. We find a loaf of bread. ”
