Three people were arrested and four others were declared wanted following the discovery of two laboratories in the field of cryptocurrency production.
Sources from the police said that the citizens A. Ç, 26 years old and Rr. D, 36 years old, resident in Tirana and L. Xh, 23 years old, resident in Lushnje. EH, M.Gj, EH and Th.Z, residents of Tirana, were declared wanted.
According to the same announcement, so far, it is estimated that for the creation of this activity these citizens have spent about 1,000,000 euros.
It is learned that from the investigations carried out by “Unit C – for the Investigation of Cybercrime, it resulted that these citizens in cooperation with each other, have carried out actions aimed at setting up two structures for the production of cryptocurrencies, which are created by introducing and change of computer data into electronic devices, creating monetary benefits as well as avoiding legal procedures related to liabilities to the state, but also the regular functioning of this activity in terms of revenue by using, misinterpreting and misusing legal spaces.
In the press release, the police says that from the verifications performed, it has resulted that these persons, although they have not received a positive response from the Financial Supervision Authority for the establishment of this activity, have decided to carry out this activity, which is contrary to law. “For financial markets based on distributed registry technology”, as it does not meet any of the criteria set out in this law.
“No aspect of the activity of these citizens is clear in terms of company assets, activity development, profit declaration, entry of computer data for monetary benefit, etc.“, Is quoted from the announcement.
With the quality of material evidence were seized 631 pieces of electronic equipment for the production of cryptocurrencies, 630 pieces of solar panels, 360 pieces of electronic equipment for continuous power supply, 71 pieces of computer equipment for data processing, 71 pieces of computer equipment for storage of temporary data, 71 pieces of external hard drives, 71 pieces of electronic devices for temperature stabilization, electronic devices for internet distribution, mobile computer devices and various documents of subjects, financial invoices, various notes, etc.
The investigative materials were sent to the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of Durrës, for the continuation of further investigative actions.
